Under 17’s Start Driving Lessons at Chelmer Valley Park and Ride (near Chelmsford)

The Chelmsford Young Driver Scheme has got off to a good start. It’s an ideal venue for under 17 year old students to begin to learn how to drive with professional training from instructors from the Driving Instructors Club Essex.

Essex County Council SafetyThe emphasis is on road safety and we are being supported in this by Essex County Council who have undertaken to supply their road safety mobile classroom – each driving lesson is preceded with a 15 minute discussion about driving topics. After that pupils are taken by qualified driving instructors to drive cars around the huge Chelmer Valley Park & Ride car park which is closed to the public on Sundays. Because the environment is ‘off road’ there is no requirement for a provisional driving licence, making it a great opportunity for under 17 year olds to start learning how to drive.
